Description of Chianti Classico Riserva
The Badia a Coltibuono Riserva, our most classic wine, is made exclusively from autoctonous grapes. It is loved by wine aficionados worldwide and is considered to be a true emblem of the Chianti territory. As a testimony to its long history and traditions, the estate is the proud possessor of a unique patrimony of old Riserva wines which date back as far as 1937. Unfortunately wines preceding this vintage were lost during the Second World War. The Riserva is produced only on better vintages. Some of the most noteworthy are: ‘59, ‘64, ‘66, ‘71, ‘75, ‘83, 85, ‘88, ‘90, ‘93, ‘95, ’97 and ‘99.
TASTING NOTES
Intense, deep ruby red color; splendid olfactory intensity with hints of morello cherry, nutmeg, red fruits, violet, iris and black pepper.
Warm and reasonably soft on the palate, the impact is elegant and very fresh, with mature tannins and a return to the flavor of floral, fruity notes. Very persistent with a generous aftertaste.
Recommended serving temperature : 18° C
